St Clements World War1 Memorial


WW 1 Memorial in St Clements Church

The 1st world war memorial in St Clements above is quite unique in that it's dedication
states the great war from 1914 to 1919 and although the names are in alphabetic
order they are also by rank. If you are related to or knew anyone on the memorial,
the World War 1 Commemorative Events group at Thurrock Council would like to hear from you.


In the churchyard there are 2 other graves from the time of WW1 these are those of
the boys from the training ship Cornwall and their officer who died wth them, in theory his grave
is a war grave as he was killed in the war but not in action.
