Review of 2025 Associates Trips

4 Day Holiday to Hayling Island

Day I
35 Associates gathered at London plant to begin the trip to Hayling Island, weather was good sunny and warm maybe a good omen for the weekend. First stop Cobham services for breakfast, then onto Hayling Island for lunch, the afternoon was then spent booking in and unpacking and time to enjoy the weather and relax with a few drinks on the bar patio. Dinner time 6:30 followed by entertainment provided by a Rod Stewart tribute act.

Day 2
After breakfast sun still shining, we set off to Portsmouth our usual place to visit on Saturday. With time to visit the shipyard or just enjoy the shops and bars of Gun Quay. There were quite a few people taking advantage of the good weather to abseil down the Spinnaker monument (see photo).

Early afternoon we rejoined the coach and made our way back to Hayling for a late lunch and enjoy the resort amenities and chat and people watch on the bar patio. 6:30 into dinner then entertainment for by a brilliant Hollies tribute group and late night entertainment in the bar.

Day 3
At 10am after breakfast it was all a board for a trip to the New Forest, we drove around the forest this remind you how beautiful this part of the country is. We stopped at Lyndhurst for lunch spent at the Mailmans Arms pub listening to a local guitar duo.

Next door is the Ferrari car showroom where some lucky person was being given instructions on his brand new purchase. Back at Hayling the afternoon was spent much the same as the day before. After dinner entertainment was the resident band and singers later into the late bar.

Day 4
Up early all packed and ready for home we left the resort at 10am and stopped for lunch in Winchester for about an hour then back on the coach home arriving about 4pm, amazingly the weather the weather was holding up a fitting end to a great weekend.

Associates Golf Day
On 14th May 22 players met at Top Meadow Golf Club for our first golf day for 2025, the sun was shining so most of us sat outside to enjoy the weather. The Coffee and bacon sandwiches were served and whilst this was going on there was a few forms to be filled in and the teams to be sorted out. That was done, score cards and yellow balls handed out and now all off to the first tee. The first hole didn’t look to bad on the card but it was quite a tricky par three with a large oak tree to the right of the green and the fairway slopping of to the left. Now the fun had started we had nearest the pin in two shots on the sixth hole a nice 240 yd par four, three players managed to get on the green in two shots but nearest the pin was Ian Catmore. Our team managed to lose our yellow ball on the third hole along with a couple of other teams so that was that we were out of this competition. We then had nearest the pin on the eighteenth hole a very tricky 160 yd par three across the pond onto a very slopping elevated green ( Picture above ) and guess what nobody managed to get on the green the ball was either in the pond or up the bank or in the bushes. The winner of the P&G Shield this year was Ray Russell with 38 points. Runner up was Rick Shea with 37 points Third place was Dave Poysden with 35 points And as nobody got nearest the pin this prize was given to John Goyette who came in with 34 points. And as all six yellow balls were lost so there was no winner of this competition so the prizes were given to Mick Roach and Dave Harmond both with 33 points. Well done to everybody that took part it’s a challenging course and there were some good scores. Great day was had by all Mick Roach.
